Drafting Table and Chair Review

First of all, the packaging was rediculous. It consisted of five layers of cardboard and tape, and then the whole thing was wrapped in clingwrap and tape. It took me 30 minutes just to get it open! (I am convinced this is a ploy to prevent returns)The instructions were incredibly vague, and the pieces don't fit together perfectly, you have to use quite a bit of muscle to get it together. The lamp was broken (I fixed it with superglue but now the switch doesn't turn and I have to plug it in to turn it on) and the device to attach it to the table is downright pathetic. Hinges are alternately too stiff or too lose, and bottom swivel has no control, so it basically just hangs there.
Also, this table is TINY!! Keep in mind when viewing the dimensions of the board that you won't be able to use the right 3rd of the table because it's over the shelves. The shelves are the width of a standard piece of paper - no more. Table is also roughly textured, it will show up in your pencil work. The table top is supposedly "adjustable" but really only goes from flat to about 15 degrees up. Whoever designed the "adjustable" bits clearly has no knowledge of physics, as it would require the table top back to go STRAIGHT UP in order to get steeper angles.

The chair is actually fairly decent.

I am keeping the table for now, because it's just barely good enough for my needs, but I'm probably going to resell it and buy a better one in the near future.

All in all, you get what you pay for when you buy this table. If you want something nice and professional, shell out the extra $40.
